The Night of Traditional Dance

The Night of Traditional Dance is one of the most significant museum events of the year for connoisseurs of live music and traditional dance. Musicians from different regions of Ukraine come together in May to celebrate a long and brightnight by dancing until dawn. Different generations gather on site and senior participants transfer their experience and traditions to younger generations. The night revives the ancient practice of non-stage dance.

The event first took place in Kyiv in 2015 on the occasion of International Museum Day at the National Centre for Folk Culture  ‘Ivan Honchar Museum’.

Over the years, folk groups from Bavaria, Hungary, Georgia, and Belarus have been guests of the festival.
