Polyphony Project

POLYPHONY PROJECT is research and cultural-artistic project of international cultural cooperation of Hungary, Ukraine, and France. The main tasks are to fix the last living Ukrainian song tradition, organize the folklore archive, and integrate Ukrainian cultural heritage into the modern world context.

It was initiated by a Hungarian musician and researcher of traditional music Miklós Bot.

The project explored more than 100 Ukrainian villages, recorded more than 2,000 Ukrainian song heritage samples. All materials are presented in high-quality videos, catalogued according to various criteria (performers, place of origin, genres, circumstances, etc.). The multi-channel player allows you to listen to each voice separately. All songs have lyrics and versions from different regions. The archive was created in three languages: Ukrainian, Hungarian, and English.

The project is implemented with the support of the European Union's "Creative Europe" program and the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
