This video presents the family tradition of barrel-making in the Polissian village of Chornyzh. Both the father, Serhey, and the son, Dmytro, have been mastering this craft since childhood.
Both are very careful in their work, for the smallest crack can determine the master's reputation. When they work, they communicate through gestures and facial expressions, almost silently. Concurrently, one can sense an absolute synergy. They work their craft with the tools of their grandfather Michael, and some of their processes have been optimized with the help of machinery.
Their barrels, butter churns, troughs, casks, and bathing tubs have been ordered even in Poland and Germany.
